Six dead after a horrific earthquake hits Nepal

At least six people were killed and homes were destroyed in the western district of Doti when an earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck Nepal early on Wednesday. Two helicopters in the nearby cities of Surkhet and Nepalgunj were on standby, and the Nepali army dispatched a ground rescue team to the scene.

According to police deputy superintendent Bhola Bhatta, at least six people have been killed and five have been injured in the Purbichauki rural municipality of the Doti district.

According to him, three homes were entirely destroyed by the earthquake, and a search and rescue effort was in progress. Sher Bahadur Deuba, the prime minister of Nepal, sent condolences to the deceased people’s families on Twitter on Wednesday.
