Houston Rockets coach Stephen Silas won’t be returning next season

By Krishna Kosaraju, Staff Reporter, The Pawprint

According to The Associated Press, they revealed on Sunday that the Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas will not be reprising his role for next season and will be departing from the team.

Silas completed his third season with the squad when the Rockets defeated the Wizards 114-109 to finish the season with a 22-60 record. That is the second-worst record in the NBA, tied with the Spurs.

In NBA terms, the Rockets are a team that is “rebuilding” in the sense that they are starting over with a young core, so it was expected of them to not have as strong of a season, but no one expected their record to be this bad, and the brunt of the blame was put on Silas.

Silas stated that “I wanted to be a head coach my whole life. I wanted to be like my dad. Proud of these guys, proud of their hard work, proud of their growth and maturity as they got through the season.”
