Sunday’s Pepsi Super Bowl halftime performance did not only feature some of the greatest artists, however, it also showed Eminem taking a knee.
Eminem taking a knee took place after he had performed his 2002 hit “Lose Yourself.” This gesture became a subject of controversy, when the former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick used it as an act of protest against police brutality, as well as, racial discrimination.
Eminem has a history of supporting Kaepernick’s effort. In 2017, during the BET Hip Hop Awards, Eminem performed a 4.5-minute freestyle calling out former President Donald Trump, as well as embracing Kaepernick and his message on police brutality, and racism.
