After the recent Astroworld incident in Houston, Texas, which took place on November 5, 2021, Travis Scott has offered to pay for the funerals of the victims’ families, however, his offer has been rejected by half of the families Scott has reached out to.
The lawyer of one of the families who lost their 14 year old son John Hilgert called the artist’s offer “demeaning and inappropriate”. After that, Travis Scott’s lawyer (Daniel Petrocelli) wrote a letter to the family who has sadly lost their 9 year old. The letter stated:
“Travis is devastated by the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld Festival and grieves for the families whose loved ones died or were injured,” the letter read.
“Travis is committed to doing his part to help the families who have suffered and begin the long process of healing in the Houston community. Toward that end, Travis would like to pay for the funeral expenses for Mr Blount’s son.”
The family’s lawyer (Bob Hilliard) said that the family had declined the offer without hesitation.
