Bolshoi Theatre Performer Killed in Accident During Set Change

A performer at Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre was killed on Saturday in a stage accident.
The Bolshoi Theatre, one of Russia’s most prestigious theatres, confirms the accident took place during a set change in Sadko, an opera by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It was said by the theatre that, “The opera was immediately stopped and the audience was asked to leave,”.
Although investigators have not disclosed his identity it is known he was a 37 year old performer, and the details of the incident was he was crushed by a ramp during a change of scenery.
However it is not the first time a fatal accident had taken place in The Bolshoi. In July 2013 a senior violinist died after falling into the orchestra pit.
