Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers broke the NBA all time scoring record on February 7th, 2023, against the Oklahoma City Thunder, a match which the Lakers sadly lost. Lebron James surpassed the point tally of 38,387 points which was the record previously held by NBA legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers during his career.
Following the game, TNT’s Shaquille O’Neal asked James if he was the greatest player of all time. “I’ll let everyone else decide who that is or just talk about it. “It’s great barbershop talk,” James initially responded.
As a highly anticipated 18-year-old basketball prodigy who joined the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, one year after being dubbed “The Chosen One,” the record fulfills one more promise that James seemed to hold.
James has won four championships and been named MVP four times. He also ranks No. 4 in career assists, No. 9 in steals, No. 32 in rebounds, and No. 91 in blocks, all of which attest to his dominance and endurance after playing the third-most minutes in league history.
