In the early hours of Wednesday, a magnitude-6.1 earthquake hit northwest Turkey, causing at least 35 people injured. Istanbul, the largest city in the country, was 170 kilometers to the east of the point of impact.
The depth of the earthquake is estimated to range from 2 km to 10 km. There have been reports of power outages in the area as well. Many people may be seen huddling outside at night in Duzce, covered in blankets and building fires to stay warm.
Turkey has become a major spot for earthquake hits recently, as there was another huge hit in 2020 killing more than 20 people in Elazig.
