Crumbl Copycat Recipes

By Yasmine Jarmakani, Lifestyle Editor, The Pawprint

Have you ever watched videos about the viral cookies from Crumbl on TikTok? Crumbl is a dessert chain in the United States that is famous for its cookies and rotating menu. Unfortunately, many of us cannot taste these cookies because they are only available in the United States. Therefore, I decided to try a few copycat recipes to see if these cookies are actually worth all the buzz.

1. Cinnamon Swirl Cookies

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter

3/4 cup of white granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 tsp of vanilla extract

1 3/4 cups of All-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tbsp cinnamon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to convection 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Beat room temperature butter in a stand mixer/by hand for 3-5 minutes (or until butter turns off-white).
  3. Add in white sugar. Beat the sugar with the butter until the mixture is fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  4. Add your large egg and stir into the mixture.
  5. Mix in vanilla.
  6. Add flour, baking soda, and cinnamon to form your dough. If using a stand mixer, mix on low. If mixing by hand, use a spatula.
  7. In a separate bowl mix butter, sugar, and cinnamon to make the cinnamon topping
  8. Use a 1/3 cup scoop (or however much your heart desires) and place a single ball of dough on a baking tray.
  9. Flatten your dough a little and add 1 tbsp of cinnamon topping on top
  10. After baking your test cookie, place cookie dough balls on your tray. Use your test cookie to estimate how many cookies you can fit on your tray. (they tend to spread a lot)
  11. Bake cookies for 10-13 minutes (for 1/3 cup scoop).
  12. For perfectly circular cookies, use a circular bowl/cup and swirl around your fresh cookie to make the edges clean. Then let the cookies sit on a tray for about 10 minutes before removing them.
  13. Cool your cookies in the fridge before icing them.
  14. Put them in the fridge to store for up to 10 days or at room temperature for up to 8 days!

2. Confetti Cookies

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter (1 & 1/2 sticks)

1/2 cup of white granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

2 tsp of vanilla extract

1 tsp cake batter extract (or 1/4 tsp almond extract)

1 tbsp molasses (optional)

1 3/4 cups of All-purpose flour

1 cup cake flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 cup sprinkles

Steps

1. Preheat the oven to convection 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Beat room temperature butter in a stand mixer/by hand for 3-5 minutes (or until butter turns off-white).

3. Add in white sugar and brown sugar. Beat the sugar with the butter until the mixture is fluffy (about 2 minutes).

4. Add your large egg and stir into the mixture.

5. Mix in vanilla extract, cake batter extract (or almond), and molasses.

6. Add all-purpose flour, cake flour, and baking soda to form your dough. If using a stand mixer, mix on low. If mixing by hand, use a spatula.

7. Add sprinkles.

8. Use a 1/3 cup scoop (or however much your heart desires) and place a single ball of dough on a baking tray. (I flattened  my cookies a little)

9. Bake cookies in the oven for 9-11 minutes. The cookies may seem a little underdone, but it will prevent them from being dry and crumbly.

10. For perfectly circular cookies, use a circular bowl/cup and swirl around your fresh cookie to make the edges clean. Then let the cookies sit on the tray for about 10 minutes before removing them.

11. You can store these in the fridge for up to 10 days or at room temperature for 8 days!

4. Cake Batter Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup butter

1 cup white granulated sugar

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp cake batter extract (or 1/4 tsp almond extract)

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

Steps

1. Preheat the oven to convection 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Beat room temperature butter in a stand mixer/by hand for 3-5 minutes (or until butter turns off-white).

3. Add in brown and white sugar. Beat the sugar with the butter until the mixture is fluffy (about 2 minutes).

4. Add your egg and stir into the mixture.

5. Mix in vanilla and cake batter extract.

6. Add flour, baking soda, and salt to form your dough. If using a stand mixer, mix on low. If mixing by hand, use a spatula.

7. Use a 1/3 cup scoop (or however much your heart desires) and place a single ball of dough on a baking tray.

8. Bake cookies for 12-13 minutes (for 1/3 cup scoop).

9. For perfectly circular cookies, use a circular bowl/cup and swirl around your fresh cookie to make the edges clean. Then let the cookies sit on the tray for about 10 minutes before removing them.

10. Put in fridge to store for up to 10 days or leave at room temperature for up to a week.

I would rate these cookies a 4/5 mainly because I chose to imitate the cookies with flavors I usually like. They were generally pretty easy to make but overall these recipes aren’t the most reliable to judge the actual company on because they are copycat recipes, not the actual ones. The best cookies, in my opinion, were (in order from most to least favorite) Cake Batter, Cinnamon Swirl and lastly the Confetti Cookies.
