Parents of a 15-year-old shooter heartbroken at the loss of five innocent lives

“Our son Austin inflicted immeasurable pain on the Raleigh community, and we are overcome with grief for the innocent lives lost,” the parents have said.

Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman has stated that her administration plans to charge the suspect as an adult. His parents claim, like so many others, that they are confused as to why the horrible incident occurred. The Thompsons said in their statement, “We have so many unanswered questions.”

“Austin has never shown to be capable of doing anything like this,” the parents said.

The parents also said that they will continue helping police with their enquiries “and do whatever we can to assist them understand why and how this happened.”
