The Chinese city of Changzhou, with a population of approximately 37 million was shut down as the new covid variant, BA.2, spreads.
The new variant that has swept over China, caused 2 deaths. This was quite a shock to the people, as it had been the first reported death in over a year from covid.
The new variant has also been called the ‘stealth variant’ as PCR tests have reportedly failed to differentiate it between the other strains of covid such as omicron or delta.
