According to Roman Abramovich, in his close to 20-years of ownership of Chelsea FC, he has always viewed his role as a custodian of the club, ensuring the success of the club and building up for the future as well playing a positive role in the community. 

Roman Abramovich will be passing stewardship of the club to Chelsea’s charitable foundation but not the ownership, meaning that Abramovich will continue to be in control over the club.

Abramovich has funded Chelsea’s transformation into serial winners while keeping a low profile, Chelsea is more of an enjoyable pastime and a potential disposable asset if it becomes problematic for all that’s on his plate right now.
