US president Joe Biden has made a statement saying the Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin has misjudged the kind of reaction expected from the West.
During his address, Biden explains that Putin’s motives were “premeditated and unprovoked”.
Biden, who previously withdrew the US Army from Afghanistan last year, says “Putin is wrong. We were ready.” He announced that he is following Europe and Canada’s ban of Russian air flights.
The US president later welcomed Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova. Just hours before, Biden spoke to the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss what the US could do to be of support in this hard time for Ukraine.
“Let each of us… stand and send an unmistakable signal to Ukraine and to the world,” Mr Biden told his audience in the chamber of the House of Representatives.
