UAE to host Erdogan, hoping to open a new positive page with Turkey

As ties between UAE and Turkey improve, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was set to visit the UAE for the first time in nearly a decade.

Turkey and the UAE have had years of difficulty, backing opposite sides in regional conflicts, and other issues like gas exploration in the eastern Mediterranean

Tensions started to decrease when Abu Dhabi crown prince Mohammed bin Zayed traveled to Turkey in November.

Following his visit, the UAE announced a $10 billion fund for investments in Turkey; the two countries also signed several security, economic, and technological agreements.
