Cheek filler, lip filler, breast implants and butt implants are all forms of plastic surgery. It’s no secret that not all of Hollywood’s biggest stars are completely natural. Many celebrities have spoken out about plastic surgery, emphasizing that it is not anything to be ashamed of. Take, for example, Dolly Parton, an American country music singer, guitarist, and actress who was cheered on by her fans for openly discussing her plastic surgery.
Many celebrities have talked about this, but not all. Today, many celebrities try to deny it and even hide it. For example, Kylie Jenner has denied in the past having lip fillers done. She quickly regretted it afterwards and fessed up. This has also happened to other artists who have hidden nose jobs, cheek fillers, lip fillers, and other cosmetic procedures. But why keep it hidden? Why do celebrities go to such great lengths to conceal the fact that they’ve had plastic surgery? This could have a significant negative impact on her fan base, as it will demonstrate to them that her lips are naturally achievable, which can lead her supporters to feel insecure by unrealistic body standards.
But why does it matter if a celebrity has undergone cosmetic surgery? It doesn’t matter to fans whether or not celebrities have had plastic surgery; what matters is the fact that they deny it. It’s a form of lying that followers despise, especially when it is coming from someone they respect and admire. Being a celebrity provides them with a platform from which they may express themselves and fight for whatever they want. And lying about it is unethical since they are put in the spotlight to demonstrate that it isn’t such a huge problem.
Another way to look at it is that celebrities are people, too, and may not want to expose their personal lives to the public eye. It is their lives, and they have the freedom to live it however they wish. Celebrities may desire to keep their personal lives distinct from the public eye. Which could have consequences for their fans. To be fair, they decided to be in the spotlight and knew there would be consequences, and this is one of the most serious ones. Celebrities who refuse to acknowledge having plastic surgery can set unrealistic standards for the rest of the world. Children, teens, and adults who are exposed to these celebrities on a daily basis may experience mental health issues. It teaches young minds that having a slim waist, a small nose, and full lips is natural and what one is “supposed” to look like. Instead, it’s all Photoshop and plastic surgery.
