Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said the protests of truckers around the country are unacceptable and has had Ottawa police warn the truckers that they would be arrested.
Truckers are protesting against a rule that each individual has to be fully vaccinated to enter Canada.
Protestors have executed blockages on main roads, such as the Ambassador Bridge, a bridge that connects Detroit, Michigan and Ontario. This has been ongoing since Monday.
Toyota has announced they are stopping manufacturing in Ontario, and many other car manufacturers have had to halt production and reduce shift hours due to the blockade and shortage of parts.
Ottawa police stated that the protestors may be arrested soon, and that “anyone blocking streets or assisting others in the blocking of streets may be committing a criminal offense”.
Punishments may include seizure of their vehicles and inability to enter the US, as well as a hefty C$1,000 fine for noise, engine idling, and other infractions.
