Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood arrested

The 20-year-old attacker “will not return to training or play matches until further notice,” according to United. He is suspicious of sexual assault with his girlfriend, Harriot Robinson.

Greenwood was not named by the police, but a statement regarding the inquiry was released following inquiries about the footballer

“Earlier today, Greater Manchester Police were made aware of online social media photographs and videos uploaded by a lady describing episodes of physical assault,” stated the force in a statement. “An inquiry was initiated, and we can report that a guy in his twenties has now been detained on suspicion of rape and assault.”

“He is still being held in prison for interrogation. Inquiries are ongoing”

Greenwood rose through the United system to the first team, and he extended his contract with the club last year until 2025.

“Manchester United does not condone any form of violence,” the club stated.

Greenwood did not respond publicly for several hours after the charges were made public.
