The United States donated over 400 million free Covid-19 vaccines to 112 different countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.
Zients included: “This is significant progress, as the doctors and data have made crystal clear. Vaccinations and boosters provide the best protection.”
This was a great milestone for the White House’s goal of delivering 1.2 billion vaccines under the direction of US President, Joe Biden.
During a press briefing held on Wednesday, The White House Covid-19 response coordinator, Jeff Zients, claimed that the donation was four times greater than that of any country before.
The US also achieved another milestone this week, as 70% of eligible seniors and 50% of eligible adults in the country have received the booster shot.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the daily numbers of positive cases and hospital admissions have decreased significantly as of last week.
The average daily cases has fallen by 6% this week, and the average hospital admissions, by 8%.
“Vaccines remain our single most powerful tool,” Zients said.
