The extension of the damage caused by last month’s oil leak in Huntington Beach is now being realised.
Up to 100,000 gallons of crude oil leaked from an offshore pipeline at the popular Huntington Beach, Orange County, California damaging the immediate coastline and local sea life.
Rebecca Ore, the coast guard captain for the beach said that 558 barrels of oil had been spilled. Huntington beach was shut down on Monday the 11 of October, this led to fishing being banned until further notice as scientists are examining to see if the fish were affected by the oil before they allow fishing to resume.
