By Alessandro Pellegrino
The plaque in memory of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino in ‘Piazza Municipio’ was damaged in Naples. The tombstone was detached from the base and left on the ground. During the day, some workers of Napoli Servizi worked to reposition it.
The deputy mayor, Mia Filippone, checked the situation. On the plaque, inaugurated on 23 May 2015 during a demonstration for the anniversary of the Capaci bombing (in which Falcone and 4 men of the escort lost their lives on behalf of the Sicilian mafia), and in conjunction with the opening of the “new” Piazza Municipio after the works, the names of Falcone, of his wife Francesca Morvillo, Borsellino and the agents of the respective escorts killed in Capaci and in the via D’Amelio massacre( in which the anti-mafia magistrate Paolo Borsellino and five members of his police escort were killed) are reported on the plaque.
