UK Start to Pandemic Worst Public Failure Ever, MPs Say

A reporter by MPs said that the UK’s failure to do more to stop covid from spreading early when the pandemic first started was one of the worst ever public health failures. 

The government’s approach, which was backed by it’s scientists, was to try to manage the situation and in result, achieve group immunity by the virus. 

The report by the ‘cross-party group’ said there had been successes as well, in particular to the vaccination program. 

This described the whole approach, from the development and research through to the vaccine, as “ one of the most effective initiatives in UK history.”
