Colombian Nun Kidnapped in Mali in 2017 Finally Freed
By Mascha Cenia
Four years ago a Colombian nun was kidnapped by Islamists in Mali.
Gloria Cecilia Narváez was taken hostage while working as a missionary in Koutiala, about 400 kilometers east of the capital Bamako.
There have been a couple of reports about her safety over the past four years.
In March, Ms. Narváez wrote a letter to her brother confirming that she is still alive. Her brother told the AFP earlier this year that the letter was written in all capital letters “because she always used capital letters” and containing the names of their parents finishing off with her signature.
She is now safe and a photo has been posted by the Malian presidency showing the nun meeting with interim president Assimi Goita, posted on Saturday.
