13 people have been killed after tropical cyclone Shaheen hit parts of Oman and Iran. On Monday, Omani officials confirmed the deaths of 7 people in the region of North al-Batinah. On Sunday, four more people drowned in landslides.
The bodies of two fishermen were discovered in Iran, according to official media.Three more fishermen have gone missing off the coast of Sistan-Baluchestan, near the Pakistani border, in the south-eastern region of Iran. Six individuals were slain, according to Iran’s deputy parliamentary speaker. Infrastructure was also ruined, including electrical facilities and roadways.
As the storm weakened and headed south over land on Monday, parts of the United Arab Emirates were placed on alert. Residents of al-Ain were advised to stay at home unless absolutely necessary.
