Teenager Shawn Tyler Willis from Tennessee is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing and plea set on December 3, 2021.
In april 2020 he was charged with shooting his sleeping mother, Sandy Willis in the head with the handgun she kept on her nightstand after she took away his cellphone.
He was arrested weeks later and was sent to juvenile custody. Later on, after turning 18, he was charged with first-degree murder. Inside Edition states that according to an affidavit, in May 2020, Willis reportedly confessed to the killing during an interview with investigators. The teen consented to the interview, as did his father, the affidavit said.
The details of this case were only made public now since he was transferred from a juvenile court to a criminal court. He is now being held at the Anderson County Detention Facility with a $1 million bail after pleading ‘not guilty’.
