On September 18th at a fairground in Berea, Ohio a haunted house actor of “7 Floors of Hell”, accidentally stabs an 11-year-old boy in an attempt to scare him.
The 22-year-old actor brought a real bowie knife to the attraction instead of following the only rubber or foam weapon policy. So in an attempt to scare the boy, when the actor began dragging and stabbing the knife on the ground he incidentally struck the boy’s croc and cut his big toe.
The boy received immediate medical attention and wrapped his toe but refused any further medical attention and continued through the haunted house. When speaking on the subject the child’s mother, Karen Bednarski says, “I didn’t want to make a scene, of course. I wanted to go about it the appropriate way.”
In response to the actor’s irresponsible and dangerous decision to neglect safety protocol and bring a real weapon, he was fired and charged with negligent assault.
In the end, it was said by Rodney Geffert, president of Night Scream Entertainment that “We upgraded their tickets and they went through all the houses and then said they had a great time when they were done,” and “We’ve been in business 21 years, we’re a very safe event and it’s just something the actor foolishly did on his own. He was very apologetic and stayed with the boy the whole time and helped him take his shoe off. It was an accident.”
