“The All American Look”: Who stuck to the theme of the Met Gala 2021?

As the Met Gala has a specific theme every year, this year’s theme was the “All American Look”, which translates into the color-blocked red, blue, and white looks, echoing the colors of the American flag. The vibrant colors were seen throughout the event on September 13. 2021. 

Emily Ratajkowski wore Vera Wang, Megan Fox wore Dundas, and Finneas wore Givenchy. All celebrities wore different shades of red. Gigi Hadid, Emily Blunt, and Cynthia Erivo wore Miu Miu, Prada, and Moschino. They were all within the white camp. Shades of blue were seen by Amanda Gorman who wore Vera Wang, Tracee Elis Ross wore Balenciaga, and Nia Dennis wore Stella McCartney, as well as Adidas. 

As some celebrities accomplished the theme of wearing the colors of the American flag, others took a more literal twin within the theme. For example, Debbie Harry, who wore a custom Zac Posen design to look like the star-spangled banner. 

To attend the event, individuals were expected to show proof that they are all fully vaccinated. A rule was set by the Met, that all participants of the Met Gala were required to wear masks indoors, unless they were eating or drinking. As some stars wore masks when showing up to the event, Kim Kardashian incorporated a whole face mask into her full black Balenciaga outfit.
