Nearly 75 percent of the population of the Emirates has had at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, knocking the Seychelles off top spot.
The news comes after Bloomberg’s vaccine tracker data revealed that 73.8 percent of the some 9.7 million residents in the UAE had received their first jab compared to the Seychelles’ 71.7 percent.
More than 15 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given since December when the drive to vaccinate the country began.
Currently some 64 percent of the UAE population is fully inoculated.
There are five COVID-19 vaccines in circulation in the UAE with Sinopharm and Pfizer-BioNTech the most widely distributed.
