The Mu variant, also known as B.1.621 has been detected in 42 countries and 49 states of the United States of America. According to Fox 13 News, health officials are keeping an eye on the strain to see if it becomes dominant.
Fox News states that according to estimates compiled by Outbreak.nfo, States with a higher estimated prevalence of the variant include Alaska and Hawaii.
California so far has the highest number of people infected with 384 cases at least. “The Mu variant is found to have key mutations linked to greater transmissibility and the potential to evade antibodies,” a statement from LA County Public Health reads.
