A psychologist who evaluated him while examining his asylum claims characterized him as a “very troubled and damaged young man,” according to the Canterbury Star News. Officials think he was indoctrinated by online ISIS propaganda and posted support for ISIS while ranting about his disdain for his adoptive nation, placing him on a terror watch list in 2016.
