Should Defending Champion Los Angeles Lakers be Worried Right Now?

The Los Angeles Lakers entered the year being the favorites to win the West and the Championship. Now, the team has dropped to the 6th seed, and has lost 7 of the last 10 games.
Much of it has to do with the team’s two star players Antony Davis and Lebron James being out with injury. Davis was out with an Achilles injury since Valentine’s Day and only just recently returned, while James has been out for 6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. While both returned recently to play a weekend of games, A.D and Lebron didn’t look like themselves to say the least. The team has clearly lost much of its chemistry, and as the playoffs are only 2 weeks away, the team really needs to get back into shape.
Many have lost trust in the team’s ability to go far this year, especially with the extremely strong western conference the Lakers find themselves in. Unlike last season, teams like the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, or LA Clippers now are contenders in the west. Anyone of these teams have the ability to take down the Lakers, and many see them doing so already.
Even if the Lakers make it through the west they still need to face another extremely powerful team from the Eastern Conference. The favorites to make it to the finals are the Brooklyn Nets,
