Last Thursday, the NFL Draft took place in Cleveland Ohio. Top College prospects were selected by teams who desperately need their help.
Although Ohio has the 8th highest infection rate in the country, the event was held in person.Strict Covid 19 protocols were put in place such as Covid testing, limited crowd, social distancing, and more.
While there were some surprises, the draft went as expected.
One standout is college football superstar Trevor Laurence, who was picked number 1 overall as a quarterback by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team recently hired Urban Mayer, four time national coach of the year for college teams Ohio and Florida. A college coach seems to be the perfect fit for a quarterback straight out of college in Trevor Laurence. People will be keeping a close eye on the Jaguars this 2021-2022 season.
Another pick that cannot be ignored is Quarterback Justin Fields, selected by the Chicago Bears. Fields was expected to be picked in the top 5, but instead dropped to the 11th spot. Many have expressed their disgust of the disrespect shown to the young QB, and believe he’s entering this year’s season with a chip on his shoulder to prove all the teams who passed on him that they made a mistake.
The 2021 – 2022 NFL season start date has not yet been released, but whenever the start these rookies will be ready to make their name known.
