Just a few hours ago, Tiger Woods, pro golf legend, sustained multiple leg injuries in a single-car crash after his S.U.V ran off the road and rolled down the side of a hill. Woods is currently stable, but undergoing surgery on his leg in the UCLA Medical Center, after he was rushed there from the site of the accident.
Tiger was allegedly driving at “greater speeds than normal”, but it’s important to note that Hawthorne Boulevard, the area of the crash, has a “high frequency of car accidents”, says Mr. Villanueva, the local sheriff. The 5 time Master’s champion was luckily alone in the car at the time of the accident, and an ambulance was able to reach him in less than six minutes. The medical team states that when they arrived Tiger was conscious, and use of the Jaws of Life was not necessary, however the pro golfer was not able to stand on his own. Pictures of Tiger’s car show us how horrific a crash it was, as the entire front of the car was destroyed, along with the windshield and trunk.
The Crash comes at such a horrible time for the Golf Legend, for only three months ago he underwent a fifth back surgery in hope that he could participate in this year’s Masters tournament.
Alongside with the fact that this is yet another crushing fall from grace for Wood’s. In 2009, information of Tiger Woods cheating on his wife with multiple women was released to the public. This sparked a snowball effect in the Pro Golfers Life that ended in him being pulled over in May 2017 and briefly jailed in Florida, after Police found him asleep behind the wheel of his car with the engine running. Tests would confirm painkillers in his system, after Woods fell into addiction. For many this would be the end, but Tiger was determined to not let this incident define him.
Using the fighting spirit instilled in him from a young age by his parents, Wood’s made one of the greatest comebacks in the history of man. After 3 years of rehab, practice, recovering, and most definitely suffering, Tiger rose from the ashes. He won the 2019 Masters, at 43 years old. He embraced his family after the victory, showing the world that his life was repaired. He hasn’t looked back since.
This accident is just one more obstacle in Tiger’s life, but history tends to repeat itself, and no one would be surprised to see this comeback king do it again.
