Every year Louisiana hosts their annual Mardi Gras parade throughout the city. Mardi Gras is cancelled this year due to the pandemic, instead people decorated their houses as colorful floats.
Megan Boudreaux was quite upset when the mayor of New Orleans announced the cancelation of this cherished celebration. Boudreaux united with her neighbors to decorate their houses. 3,000 houses were decorated in total throughout New Oreleans.
City Councilman Jay stated, “Mardi Gras by no means is dead; it’s just different.”
Mardi Gras translates to “Fat Tuesday”. The festival celebrates the practice of eating rich and fatty foods before Ash Wednesday, the start of Christian Lent.
