Another vaccine trial that was developed by Oxford University shows that it stops people from developing COVID-19 symptoms. The data shows that it can provide 70% protection and 90% protection if the dosage is doubled.
These results are very good, but the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine provide 95% protection. These vaccines will play a big role in ending the pandemic if approved by regulators.
The big advantage of this vaccine over the other two by Pfizer and Moderna is that you can store it in a regular fridge and it uses tried and tested technology that has been used for decades with other vaccine applications.
“The announcement today takes us another step closer to the time when we can use vaccines to bring an end to the devastation caused by the virus” said the vaccine’s architect, Professor Sarah Gilbert.
The government of the UK pre ordered 100 million vaccines and by next year 3 billion Oxford vaccines are planned to be made.
