Bruno Fernandes’ Retaken Penalty Gives Manchester United the 3 Points

By: Ryan Ebeid, Sports Reporter, The Pawprint

Manchester United played against West Bromwich Albion where they won the game 1-0.

The team started the game well, but West Bromwich keeper Sam Johnstone made wonderful saves to keep them in the game.

One minute after the break, West Bromwich were awarded a penalty following a foul on Conor Gallagher by Fernandes. However referee David Coote disallowed the penalty after reviewing the foul with the pitchside monitor (VAR).

On the other hand, Manchester United gained a penalty from a handball by Darnell Furlong. Bruno Fernandes’ penalty was initially saved, but it was retaken because the VAR said that keeper Johnstone came off his line too early. Bruno Fernandes retook the penalty and scored which made it 1-0 in their favour.

This is United’s’ first home victory of the season and takes them up to 9th with 13 points. West Bromwich remain 18th with 3 points.
