On Sunday; Russian, Danil Medvedev, won the Paris Masters Tennis Championship after defeating 6th seed Alexander Zverev 5-7,6-4,6-1 in the final.
This is the Russians first title of the 2020 season, and it puts him one spot up in the ATP Fedex rankings from 5 to 4 in the world, passing an injured Roger Federer who sat at 4th for most of the year.
This title is a major relief for Daniel as he hasn’t been in a sort of slump for the entirety of the restart of the tour, losing in the first round of the French Open, Hamburg Open, and other disappointing performances. He himself even stated “Oh my God, I don’t have my level, I don’t even have one final, I’m playing so bad” to his wife earlier in the year.”
Regardless of that Medvedev now is at a career high in ranking and is eying the trophy at next week’s Nitto ATP Finals in London.
