Manchester City won 3-1 against Portuguese team Porto in the champions league. This game happened just two months after their Champions league exit to Lyon in last season’s quarter finals.
Despite them being banned from attending this season’s champions league from Uefa from last season, a successful appeal with CAS ( court of arbitration for sport) allowed them to attend this season’s Champions league.
Man City played this game without their stars KevIn De Bruyne, Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy, and Gabriel Jesus. But their star striker Sergio Aguero started and Raheem Sterling captained the team.
Porto’s Luis Diaz took his team 1-0 up with a solo goal, but City immediately equalised with Aguero scoring from a penalty. In the second half midfielder Ilkay Gundogan scored a wonderful freekick that took City 2-1 up. New signing Ferran Torres was subbed in and scored a beautiful goal that ended the game 3-1 to Manchester City.
