Nigeria anti-SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) protests claim the lives of at least 10 people as of yesterday (Tuesday October 13).

Police have responded to the protests by using extreme force on the unarmed protestors. The protests started after claims of kidnapping, harassment, and extortion were filed against the squad.

According to the family of a victim (Jimoh Isiaq, 20), the protest was a peaceful protest before the police started discharging their weapons at protestors.

Celebrities are also starting to use their voices and speak out, including rapper Kanye West, “Star Wars” actor John Boyega, footballer, Río Ferdinand, and singer Trey Songz.

On Monday the 12 of October, Kanye tweeted “”I stand with my Nigerian brothers and sisters to end police brutality, the government must answer to the peoples cries #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria”.
