The mother of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola passed away after contracting COVID-19 at the age of 82. Dolors Sala Carrio was diagnosed with coronavirus after showing symptoms in Barcelona, Spain.
The Premier League club announced her tragic death April 6th. A club statement read: “The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep’s mother Dolors Sala Carrio in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting coronavirus. She was 82-years-old. Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends.”
Guardiola has been contributing to the fight against coronavirus and has donated one million euros towards a Barcelona-based charity.
