The first death from the new coronavirus has been reported in the state of Washington. The patient was a woman in her 50s with underlying health conditions.

As the demand for emergency services and panic increases, Vice President of the United States and now the head of the US coronavirus task force, Mike Pence, said that there is no need for an average American to go out and buy a mask.

Moreover, officials in Washington state announced that there has been a possible outbreak of the coronavirus at a nursing home: one healthcare worker and the other resident in her 70s. They also stated that 27 residents and 25 staff members were showing “some sort of symptoms”.

In total, the World Health Organization reported 62 cases in the US so far.

There have already been more than 85,000 coronavirus cases and 3,000 deaths reported in 57 countries around the world. The majority of which are in China, where the virus has originated.

As Iran has the most number of deaths outside of China, Vice President Mike Pence, announced that the already existing travel ban on travel from Iran would now include any foreign national who has visited Iran in the past 14 days.
