On February 16th, thousands gathered in Sydney’s Olympic Park for the Fire Fight concert which aimed to raise AUS$ 10 million (US$ 6.71 million).
The 9.5 million raised will be used to help the hundreds of communities that had been destroyed, supporting the now thousands of homeless people and the animals still alive after the fires.
At least 33 people have been killed by the recent Australian wildfires. Firefighters along with other individuals are planning to rehabilitate the land that the fires affected, but local communities and citizens are the main priority.
23 artists performed at the concert including; Queen, while other artists showed their support by donating money to the cause, such as Pink donating $500,000. Ellen DeGeneres spread the message and donated $100,000 to three separate organizations. She even started a GoFundMe page with a goal to raise $5,000,000.
Much like these stars, to support the bushfire efforts, individuals are given the chance to donate if they cannot attend the event and buy tickets.
