At least 29 bodies were found by police in a mass grave near Guadalajara in western Mexico.
Many of the bodies are suspected of being victims of Mexico’s criminal gangs. Four of the victims have been identified, and they had been reported as missing before the discovery of the grave. Another two shallow graves were found nearby last year which held 81 bodies.
The graves were discovered when members of Mexico’s National Guard raided a warehouse on the November 6. They were on a routine patrol and saw armed men outside the warehouse. Eight people were being held at gunpoint along with a large collection of weapons. 15 people were arrested.
Over 1,000 bodies have been dug up between December 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019.
