UAE minister of state for Foreign Affairs expressed his thoughts on regional conflict at the yearly Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate
Following the death of Iranian Major General, Qassim Solemani regional tensions have increased in the Middle East. In light of this, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gargash spoke to, The National, the UAE’s leading newspaper. He said diplomacy is essential to, “create a new, more stable regional order in which all countries will be able to thrive.”
Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has threatened revenge against forces behind the supreme commanders killing. All US allies naturally, have had their own response to the political issue at hand. Dr Gargash on behalf of the UAE went on to state, “In light of the regional developments, it is necessary to put wisdom, balance and political situations above confrontation and escalation.”
Tensions have been increasing between Iran and the US for many months, escalating in late 2019.
