The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they will step back as senior royals to be financially independent. The palace is unhappy. They also announced that they will split their time between North America and the U.K.The couple spoke about their struggles with the social media spotlight and revealed on their social media that the decision took many months of deliberation and reflection.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.” The couple pointed out.
The couple also mentioned the benefits of them establishing financial and geographical independence are beneficial for their son to learn both aspects of their culture.
The palace stated that they were extremely disappointed, The BBC Royal Correspondent, Jonny Dymond, said that “This is clearly a major rift between Harry and Meghan on one part and the rest of the Royal Family on the other.”
