Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Brighton was described as “the best performance of the season” by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Striker Marcus Rashford and midfielder Andreas Periera scored either side of a Davy Propper own goal to give United their biggest Premier League victory since August and move United to the seventh place on the table, their highest position for two months.
The victory came at a cost as United’s midfielder Scott McTominay had to be carried down the tunnel on a stretcher after falling, and will have a scan on his injured ankle on Monday. It was a similar story for Brighton as they had never won at Old Trafford before and never looked like breaking the sequence and allowed Rashford to restore United’s two-goal cushion two minutes after Lewis Dunk’s goal has given them hope.
