The humorous Mr. Celestine was delighted to answer all of The Pawprint’s questions about himself. We got an insight into what brought him to our fantastic school and why he enjoys being a teacher!
Where did you work / live before?
I used to live in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and I used to work at a private school called Manor Hall International School.
How long have you lived in the UAE and why did you decide to come to Dubai?
I have lived here in the UAE for five years and I decided to move to Dubai from Al Ain because I wanted a change in lifestyle for me and my family’s. In my opinion, Dubai has more to offer us.
Why did you come to DAA?
I chose to work at the wonderful DAA because I have been very interested in the IB curriculum and I had heard that the students were lovely at DAA.
What do you teach?
I teach IB Physics and ninth grade science.
Favourite part of being a teacher?
My favorite part of being a teacher is as cliché as it sounds, I enjoy when students learn and especially the moment when they finally get a difficult concept.
How did you get into teaching? Did you always want to be a teacher?
I didn’t always want to be a teacher, but it was still in the back of my head, I just didn’t know it yet. I always thought I wouldn’t like teaching, but now that I am teaching and have realized that this was meant for me and I love it. It gives me a chance to use everything I’ve learned.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Nothing yet but I’m planning to go skydiving at Skydive Dubai!
If you could travel to any place and time, when and where would you go?
Because I’m a physics teacher, I would’ve wanted to attend and experience Albert Einstein’s and Neil Bohr’s debates in the 1910’s.
If you could be any animal, which animal would you be?
I really like animals so it’s pretty tough to decide which one, but I think I would want to be a cheetah, just because they are fast.
Secretly, I want to be an ostrich, since they’re actually faster than a cheetah.
