Apple Lawyer Charged with Insider Trading

Top Apple lawyer Gene Levoff was charged with trading nonpublic confidential information for personal gain. He was one of the company’s top senior representatives responsible for implementing Apple’s insider trading compliance policy, frequently sending out emails to employees to remind them not to illegally trade the company’s stocks. However, he was fired in September 2018 when the US Securities Exchange Commission(SEC) found out that he had been trading shares illegally. According to the SEC, he exchanged Apple securities various times between 2011 and 2016, making about $627,000 in total. The US prosecutors charged a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $5 million.
