Court in Hawaii Approves 30 Meter Telescope
The Supreme Court in Hawaii approves the construction of what will be one of the world’s largest telescopes. This was done in spite of the protests from Native Hawaiians, as the telescope is to be constructed on land which many of them deem sacred. This holy site, called Mauna Kea, already has 13 telescopes, and activists claim that their construction has desecrated the holy mountain and inferred with Hawaiian cultural practices.
