Japan’s princess surrenders her royal title

Japan’s princess, Ayako, has married businessman Kei Moriya. According to the customs of Japan’s Imperial House, women with royal titles must abandon their claim if they decide to marry one without royal or aristocratic family ties. Male family members don’t have the same repercussions for marrying out of royalty.

The Princess Ayako is the youngest child at 28, but she seems committed to her desires. After renouncing her status, she will receive roughly $950,000 from the Japanese government for living expenses, but otherwise, the royal life for Ayako has been concluded.
