On 12 September Volvo released the concept for a self-driving semi-truck that is completely driverless, and she’s called Vera. Vera will be monitored off of a cloud-based system.
There are no drivers, no rest stops, no time wasted.
The truck, along with being driverless is also electric leaving a cleaner imprint on the environment. Vera comes with a 185kW motor, 186-mile range, and it can pull a standard trailer of 32 tonnes. Vera is still “under development”, according to Mikael Karlsson, Vice President Autonomous Solutions at Volvo Trucks.
