“Ice” nearly as hot as the sun
A new form of ice that is formed at extremely high pressures and was previously theorised to exist on Neptune and Uranus, has now been created in the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory on earth. This ice is both solid and liquid, and is 60 times denser than regular ice. The process of making this ice involved compressing water into a form of crystal using approximately 360,000 pounds per square inch of force, as well as further heating and compressing. The same time 30 years ago, scientists predicted this unique state of matter.
